Her Relentless Search

She's been on a life long search for happiness. There is a deep longing within her that cries out to be fulfilled. So she continues the weary journey, searching for the one thing that will satisfy her deepest need.

Her lack of contentment and frustration has come from let down after let down of the things she thought would quench her dry and weary soul.

Her spouse, her kids, her big home, her nice cars, her put together appearance, her fancy clothes, all things that still leave her longing.

But somewhere deep within her lies the answer. An answer she is all to familiar with, but has refused for way too long.

Jesus.

She knows He is the answer. She knows its the relationship with Him that she needs. Yet in her quest to satisfy her flesh, she searches for relationships from man. Anyone who will listen to her, anyone who will tell her the things she wants to hear. Anyone who will lift her up and give her praise. She goes around speaking of the wonderful things she has done, yet fails to lift Him up, the giver and provider of all things.

Most days, even for her, is a toss up. Every minute is different. One minute happiness has found its place. The next minute its gone and insecurity, doubt, and anger have taken root. Her past and present always collide. Holding on to every let down, every disappointment, every obstacle leaves her still searching for happiness, something that is like the crashing waves and tossing of the wind.

Temporary!

Here one minute and gone the next.

If only, is her constant thought.

Maybe if I… is her companion.

Her speech has become as fickle as her feelings.

The thought of joy seems but a mere word to her. To her, joy and happiness are one in the same.

Yet, the reality of it all is they couldn't be more different. They are the exact opposite of one another.

Jesus is Joy.

He is constant. He is faithful. He is satisfying. He is fulfilling.

All the spending. All the pretending. All the right words, they mean nothing. They give nothing, but false and empty hope with out a real relationship with Christ.

A relationship that grows daily, a relationship that knows if all was stripped away He is more than enough.

A relationship that is expressed through an abundance of love for who He is and what He's done. For in that relationship comes confidence, security and joy.

Jesus is the giver of joy. No amount of money. No amount of recognition. No amount of popularity. No amount of worldly possessions can be earned or given.

It's His free gift that comes with accepting Him in a real personal way. It's hers for the taking. It's all of ours for the taking if only we will reach out and grab it.

She is still searching, but hopefully one day soon, she will stop her search and look to Him. Hopefully one day she will understand the true meaning of joy. Jesus joy. Joy that comes from knowing she is His forever and ever. Jesus Joy that runs so deep it boils out in a way she has always longed for. Joy that needs no spoken explanation. Just pure Jesus Joy that can be felt and seen from the radiant light of Jesus that shines through every part of her.

To you sweet one searching for happiness, may you find the ever satisfying, ever lasting joy in Jesus instead!

May you seek to grow in your relationship with Christ for that is where true joy and fulfillment is found.

"I have loved you even as the Father has loved me. Remain in my love. When you obey me, you remain  in my love, just as I obey my Father and remain in his love. I have told you this so that you will be filled with my joy. Yes, your joy will overflow!" John 15:9-11
