Paul's Conversion-Your Conversion

Sometimes I get so caught up in reading and sharing that it comes across as though I am all over the place. And though I am, I don't want to be.  I never want God's Word to be confusing, or seem as though it all runs together, thus leaving everyone walking away going, "What in the world did she just say."

 As always, the Lord has told me to slow it down and take it one chapter at a time. I know we are studying Romans and Galatians and we will continue to do so, but from this point on we will focus on one whole chapter at a time.  We have to stay in context!!

So, today, we will finish up all of chapter 1 in Galatians. Then tomorrow we will jump back over to Romans chapter 1. Some chapters are longer therefore they will take us longer to get through, but as long as we are staying the course and soaking up all that God is teaching us, we will come out even more blessed and transformed. And that is my deepest prayer.

Also as a reminder I use what is called S.S.A.L.S (Study, Store, Apply, Learn, and Share)

S-Galatians 1:17-24

A-In Christ we have freedom

L-Paul's Message from Christ

       *Verse 16-18 (latter part of 16) "When all this happened to me, I did not rush out to consult with anyone else; nor did I go up to Jerusalem to consult with those who were apostles before I was. No, I went away into Arabia and later returned to the city of Damascus. It was not until three years later that I finally went to Jerusalem for a visit with Peter and stayed there with him for fifteen days."

        -I find it so interesting that Paul didn't tell anyone. That would be so hard, but then again the more I think about it and re-read this verse, the more I realize how big Paul's conversion was.

        -Think about it. Paul was on his way to persecute Christians and then all of a sudden he changed, he himself converted. What in the world, how could this be. His people probably would have tried to kill him and they probably would have mocked him.

       -God had a different plan, a plan to send Paul off for THREE years. For three years Paul spent time with the Lord, learning, listening, changing, and coming to know Christ in the most personal way possible.

   -If something like that happened to us we would immediately feel the need to consult with someone. When you have a big decision to make or something life changing happens don't you usually tell someone? I know I do.

   -Well Paul didn't, he spent his time with the Lord first. Goodness I wish I knew what those three years were like for him. What all did the Lord say to him, what was it like, how were those first few days? Oh the questions that I would love to ask in Heaven, but probably won't because at that point all I will be doing is praising and God on my face!!

  -Finally after 3 years Paul leaves and goes to Jerusalem to visit with Peter. How did the Lord set up that meeting? What was it like? What all did Paul tell Peter?

       *Verse 19-24-"And the only other apostle I met at that time was James, our Lord's brother. You must believe what I am saying, for I declare before God that I am not lying. Then after this visit, I went north into the provinces of Syria and Cilicia. And still the Christians in the churches in Judea didn't know me personally. All they knew was that people were saying, 'The one who used to persecute us now preaches the very faith he tried to destroy! And they gave glory to God because of me." 

   -Paul wanted it to be known that all of his wisdom and knowledge came directly from the Lord himself.  In verse 19 Paul says, "You must believe what I am saying for I declare before God I am not lying." There is no other way Paul could have done a complete 180 on his own. It was all God and that was what needed to be known and said.

   -This is the part I love-how God brought glory to Himself.

                -verse 22-23-"And still the Christians in the churches in Judea didn't know me personally. All they knew was that people were saying, 'The one who used to persecute us now preaches the very faith he tried to destroy! And they gave glory to God because of me." 

                       -When God gets a hold of us and we put Christ in us, our lives take on a completely different appearance, so much so, everyone notices. Believers and non-believers.

Do our lives show the changes Christ has made in us? Do they see Him at work within us?

Has our appearance changed to be that of Christ's? Paul's did.

"Since you have heard all about him and have learned the truth that is in Jesus, throw off your old evil nature and your former way of life, which is rotten through and through full of lust and deception. Instead, there must be a spiritual renewal of your thoughts and attitudes. You must display a new nature because you are a new person, created in God's likeness-righteous, holy and true." Ephesians 4:21-24

    This my brethren is conversion!

S-Share your conversion with someone today. You never know the impact it can make, nor the opportunity you could have to lead someone to Christ.

Who Would Come?

If God stripped everything away, the Bible Studies from various Authors and worship, and you only came to learn strictly from His Word. How many of you would come?

I think this says a lot about where we are in our relationship. Does God's Word alone satisfy you?

There are two things God's Word does that will bring us closer to Him and bring Him glory.

1. "You have been taught the holy Scriptures from childhood, and they have give you the wisdom to receive the salvation that comes by trusting in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It straightens us out and teaches us to do what is right. It is God's way of preparing us in every way fully equipped for every good thing God wants us to do." 2 Timothy 3:15-17

2. "For the word of God is full of living power. It is sharper than the sharpest knife, cutting deep into our innermost thoughts and desires. It exposes us for what we really are. Nothing in all creation can hide from him. Everything is naked and exposed before his eyes. This is the God to whom we must explain all that we have done." Hebrews 4:12-13

We either want the absolute truth or the watered down truth.

Are We Growing in Faith?

S-"Therefore, since we have been made right in God's sight by faith, we have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us." Romans 5:1

A-peace that comes from God

L-The Meaning of Faith

       "It is through faith that a righteous person has life." Romans 1:17

       **Faith-reliance, loyalty, or complete trust in God. Faith is also the confident assurance that what we hope for is going to happen. It is the evidence of things we cannot yet see.

Faith is stepping out of our comfort zones and trusting God, even when it doesn't make sense.

You know I was recently asked why God allows bad things to happen to good people, and the truth is I don't know the answer to that. All I know is that all things work for the good of those who love God. All I know is that faith is trusting God in situations such as those and clinging to Him.  He has a purpose for all things and even though we don't always understand, we know that it is for His glory and our benefit. All He asks is that we trust Him.

Faith is believing in the existence of Jesus Christ, His death, burial and resurrection.

Faith is trusting God no matter the outcome, no matter the pain, no matter the suffering, no matter the hurt, no matter the fear, and no matter how crazy it might sound. (Noah and the Ark, Abraham and Isaac, Moses and the Israelites)

So, how do we strengthen our faith?
       -By spending more time with the Lord, in His Word and in prayer. The more we depend on God, the more He will grow our faith. The more we know about Him, the more we will see how constant, faithful, committed, loving, and merciful He is.

The more faith we have the less doubts we have.

I also believe that faith is more than just being able to say it. It is being able to show it. Faith is more than just mere acknowledgement. Faith requires us to die to ourselves, put our wants and desires aside, and to not depend on our own human efforts. It requires us to humble ourselves and realize our need for Him.

God wants us to be faithful and trust in Him at all times and in all circumstances.

Faith is not about how we feel nor should it ever be based off of our emotions. Faith is complete trust lived through complete obedience.

Brethren, are we growing in faith? Let's strengthen one another in faith, today, tomorrow, and forever!

"And a righteous person will live by faith. But I will have no pleasure in anyone who turns away." Hebrews 10:38

"So, you see, it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that there is a God and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him." Hebrews 11:6

Could This Be Said of Me?

"Who may worship in your sanctuary, Lord? Who may enter your presence on your holy hill? Those who lead blameless lives and do what is right, speaking the truth from sincere hearts. Those who refuse to gossip or harm their neighbors or speak evil of their friends. Those who despise flagrant sinners, and honor the faithful followers of the Lord, and keep their promises even when it hurts. Those who lend money without charging interest,
and who cannot be bribed to lie about the innocent. Such people will stand firm forever." Psalm 15

Altar Sunday

Today I pray for families.

Broken families
Suffering families
Lost families

And

Families destroyed by selfishness, jealousy, greed, anger, and bitterness.

Jesus come into these homes and do a huge renovation.

God or Money

"For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs." 1 Timothy 6:10

Wouldn't it be so sad to think that our attitudes and behaviors are determined by money?

Many lives and even families are destroyed because of greed, selfishness, and hunger for more.

"Whoever loves money never has enough; whoever loves wealth is never satisfied with their income. This too is meaningless." Ecclesiastes 5:10

Has money become your master?

"No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money." Matthew 6:24

Who will you choose to serve today? God or money?

Do It So You Have No Regrets

"If you keep yourself pure you will be a utensil God can use for his purpose. Your life will be clean, and you will be ready for the Master to use you for every good work." 2 Timothy 2:21

Do you know someone who is lost? Maybe you have a family member, or members that don't know Jesus. Maybe you have a friend or friends that don't know Jesus.

How are you showing them Jesus? Are you talking with them about Him, or are you waiting for the right time?

Jesus says, "Preach the word of God. Be persistent, whether the time is favorable or not." 2 Timothy 4:2

I believe that sharing Christ with others goes way beyond just our actions and examples. We have to tell them. Talk to them about it. Share our story of how God saved and rescued us. No matter how nasty our past!

BUT, just as our passage says, we must keep ourselves pure, seek the Counsel of Christ, and listen to the Holy Spirit. We must seek to live pure and Holy lives that are pleasing to Christ, and not follow the customs and behaviors of this world.

We must also allow the Lord to reveal to us why we need to live each day sharing His name with as many as we can. Hell is real, and if we wait for the right time to share the Good News, they will experience the reality of Hell and it will be to late.

I don't want to live with that regret. The regret that I ignored the prompting of the Lord to share His Good News. The regret of knowing that I chose to be comfortable rather than uncomfortable. The regret of knowing that I lived in fear of my inadequacies to share, rather than the confidence and faith that Christ would speak through me. Nor do I want to regret desiring acceptance of man rather than God.

Like Paul says, "Obviously, I'm not trying to be a people pleaser! No, I am trying to please God. If I were still trying to please people, I would not be Christ's servant." Galatians 1:10

Jesus use us to share the Good News. You equip us with the words, all you ask is that we make ourselves available for You to use us. Cleanse us and purify us so that we can be Your utensil. Amen

Teach Me To Listen

Today. Dax and I were in the car. and out of nowhere he said, "Mommy, I just need someone to teach me how to listen. I just can't do it. I don't know how. I need you to teach me how to listen mommy, it is so hard."

After I laughed, I quickly realized,one. he was really serious, and two, brethren that is so many of us today. Especially me. I need Jesus to teach me to listen. To listen to His voice, for His voice, and for His truths. I am really very similar in the fact that I too, like my precious four year old need to be taught often and reminded to listen.

"Come and listen to my counsel. I’ll share my heart with you and make you wise." Proverbs 1:23

"My child, listen to what I say, and treasure my commands." Proverbs 2:1

"Trust God from the bottom of your heart; don’t try to figure out everything on your own. Listen for God’s voice in everything you do, everywhere you go; he’s the one who will keep you on track. Don’t assume that you know it all. Run to God! Run from evil! Your body will glow with health, your very bones will vibrate with life! Honor God with everything you own; give him the first and the best. Your barns will burst, your wine vats will brim over. But don’t, dear friend, resent God’s discipline; don’t sulk under his loving correction. It’s the child he loves that God corrects; a father’s delight is behind all this." Proverbs 3:5-12

"My child, listen to me and do as I say, and you will have a long, good life." Proverbs 4:10

"My child, pay attention to what I say. Listen carefully to my words." Proverbs 4:20

"A wise child accepts a parent’s discipline; a mocker refuses to listen to correction." Proverbs 13:1

"My dear brothers and sisters, be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry." James 1:19

The Lord gives us passage after passage on the importance of listening and the benefits that come to those who do. 

Jesus help me to be a better listener  Help me to show my boys the importance of listening and rewards that come from being obedient to You. Thank You for teaching me through Dax. Show me how to teach him to be a better listener through Your Word. Amen

Have No Shame

S-Romans 1:16-17

A-God's Grace

L-Have No Shame

         "For I am not ashamed of this Good News about Christ. It is the power of God at work, saving everyone who believes-Jews first and also Gentiles. The Good News tells us how God makes us right in his sight. This is accomplished from start to finish by faith. As the Scriptures say, 'It is through faith that a righteous person has life.'" Romans 1:16-17

 These two verses are packed full of depth.

Paul clearly states that he has absolutely NO shame in the Good News, nor is he afraid to shout it from the rooftops.

Do we have that same passion and love for the Good News that Paul did? Are we proud to proclaim this extraordinary news to the world?

My heart throughout this study has begun to change so much. God is showing me that it is His power at work, saving those who believe, and it is up to you and me to help Him. No, He doesn't need our help. He can do it all by Himself, but He wants us to be involved in His work. What an honor!

God is strengthening my faith and He is changing my doubtful heart.

S-Share your faith with someone, tell them how God saved you.



   

It's Really Happening.

"Evidently some people are throwing you into confusion and trying to pervert the gospel of Christ. But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let them be under God's curse! As we have already said, so now I say again: if anybody is preaching to you a gospel other than what you accepted, let them be under God's curse!" Galatians 1:7-9

I have to come back to this particular verse because God opened my eyes to see exactly what Paul was talking about. This verse literally came alive this week. This is really happening and I got to experience it and hear it firsthand.

We often forget that many Churches today take God's Word and turn it into their own religion. Therefore, leading others to believe things about Christ and His Word that are false.

To see and hear this false Gospel was devastating for me, but it allowed me to be able to share God's truth, His Word and who and why Christ is the most important thing ever.

I never want to waste opportunities like this. These are God given opportunities to see God's Word come alive and to share the truth of the Good News. This is exactly what God has called us to do.

It is my prayer that the seed has now been planted and that God will begin to stir things within the hearts of these who are in need of Him.

Brethren we need to be praying for the lost more. We need to be reaching out to them more. We need to have open arms and open doors for them to enter in and not be afraid to ask questions or feel judged.

We need to let our lights shine and stop hiding them or dimming them.

People are drawn to the light, and when they come, we need to be prepared to share the Good News with them.

"Jesus told them, 'Don't let anyone mislead you. For many will come in my name, saying, 'I am the Messiah.' They will lead many astray."...And many will turn away from me and betray and hate each other. And many false prophets will appear and will lead many people astray."

Matthew 24:4-5;10-11

That We Wouldn't Be Able to Contain Ourselves

"Let each generation tell its children of your might acts. I will meditate on your majestic, glorious splendor and your wonderful miracles. Your awe-inspiring deeds will be on every tongue; I will proclaim your greatness. Everyone will share the story of your wonderful goodness; they will sing with joy of your righteousness." Psalm 145:4-7

When something good or exciting happens to you, what is the first thing you do? You tell friends and family, right? What is the first thing you do when you hear something about someone else, you go and tell a friend or family member, right?

We are not afraid to share with others the good things we receive or do, nor are we afraid to share gossip about others with others. I would dare to say we don't even hesitate.

So, I have to ask. Why do we not want to tell friends, family and others the Good News about Christ?

Why do we not hurry to spread the Good News when a lost person is saved? Why do we not hurry to tell of the great things God has done for the sick, the Church, the broken, etc?

We don't hesitate to tell them the good news about things that happen here on earth, let's not hesitate to tell them about the Good News of Christ and Heaven and the amazing Grace that covers us.

Brethren it is my prayer we take on this passage above and proclaim God's greatness. 

Jesus help us to put all this in the right order. Help us to remember that the good things that happen are because of You and Your love for us. Let us not hold back or refrain from telling others the Good News about You. Let us spread worldly news less, and Your Word and love more. Amen

Altar Sunday

It is my deepest prayer that the lost become so exposed to the Light of Christ that they can't help but to come to Him.

A Sense of Urgency

"Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matthew 28:16-20

Are you prepared to share the Good News or are you caught off guard when asked?

Rather, do you look for God given opportunities to share the Good News?

Brethren we can't be afraid to share the Good News. It truly is life or death for many. We should rush at the chance to tell others about Christ and what He has done.

If you are afraid or feel you don't know enough, spend more time in the Word and with Christ, allowing Him to teach you. Then trust that when you have the opportunity or are asked that He will give you the exacts words He wants spoken.

Jesus use us. You tells us to go, may we be obedient and go. Equip us with the words, thoughts, and attitudes that will represent, reflect and show others how wonderful You are and how amazing Your grace is. Jesus help us see the urgency. Amen

L- God's Kindness

     "But then something happened! For it pleased God in his kindness to choose me and call me, even before I was born! What undeserved mercy! Then he revealed his Son to me so that I could proclaim the Good News about Jesus to the Gentiles." Galatians 1:15-16

          I love how this passage relates to us today. Read this passage again, but read it as though you are telling someone else what God has done for you.

         Brethren, it pleased God in His kindness to choose us. It pleased Him to call us before we were born to be His, and to share the Good News.

Not only did He do all of that, but He went above and beyond and revealed His Son Jesus to each of us in a very real and personal way.

Do others see the transformation that has taken place in your life?

Are you sharing this powerful testimony with others?

L-Paul's Testimony

"You know what I was like when I followed the Jewish religion-how I violently persecuted the Christians. I did my best to get rid of them. I was one of the most religious Jews of my own age, and I tried as hard as possible to follow all the old traditions of my religion." Galatians 1:13-14

Lets break this passage down

1. Vs 13 Paul persecuted the Christians. He said, "I tried my best to get rid of them." Paul would soon find out he wasn't just persecuting Christians he was persecuting Christ.

*According to the law Paul felt as though anyone or anything that went against it was wrong. It's what Paul knew, until Christ revealed Himself to him and showed him he had it all wrong. It wasn't about the law, it was about Jesus.

2. Vs 14-Paul was the most religious Jews of his age. He tried hard to follow all the old traditions of his religion.

Paul put everything he had into his religion. He never did anything half heartedly.

It is here in these two verses we see Paul, someone who use to be a huge law follower and enforcer, come to know Jesus and learn that it's not about the law, its about Gods grace.

Jesus taught Paul that the law doesn't save you, Jesus does.

So not only did Christ save Paul-He set him free from the bondage and slavery of the law.

Christ also set us free from the slavery to the law. We are free in Christ.

Are you living in freedom today?

L-Paul's Direct Revelation

"Dear brothers and sisters, I want you to understand that the gospel message I preach is not based on mere human reasoning. I received my message from no human source, and no one taught me. Instead, I received it by direct revelation from Jesus Christ."

If I may ask, when was the last time you sat with Jesus with His Word wide open, and learned directly from Him?

No one else around but you two?

If its been awhile, start back today. If you never have, start today and watch as Jesus changes your life and teaches you things only He can.

There is no human that can teach you or speak to you like Jesus.

S-Today let Jesus share with you and soak it up.

Even the Smallest Amount Will Spread

"Your boasting about this is terrible. Don’t you realize that this sin is like a little yeast that spreads through the whole batch of dough?" 1 Corinthians 5:6

Have you been exposed to yeast or are you the yeast?

Which ever you may be, ask The Lord to rid you of it. For the damage it does can be greater than you expected.

What is yeast?

Bitterness
Anger
Selfishness
Jealousy
Greed
Envy
Pride
Lying
Deceit

If any of these are apart of you then...

"Get rid of the old “yeast” by removing this wicked person from among you. Then you will be like a fresh batch of dough made without yeast, which is what you really are. Christ, our Passover Lamb, has been sacrificed for us." 1 Corinthians 5:7

If you are the "yeast" I pray God opens your eyes to see it so you can confess and repent and be free of it.

Beware brethren Satan loves to add Yeast because he knows how quickly it will spread.

Altar Sunday

"The Lord hears his people when they call to him for help. He rescues them from all their troubles. The Lord is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those who are crushed in spirit." Psalm 34:17-18

Today I pray for the complacent.

Today I pray for those living with Addiction.

Today I will flood the Throne Room on their behalf.

A-God's Grace

L-Among the Called

            "You are among those who have been called to belong to Jesus Christ, dear friends in Rome. God loves you dearly, and he has called you to be his very won people. May grace and peace be yours from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ." Romans 1:6-7

 Brethren, because of our faith in Jesus Christ we need to walk with complete confidence, joy, and peace knowing that we belong, we are loved, and we are His very own.

If you walk away with anything today, I pray you walk away knowing these three truths.

1. You belong to Jesus
2. You are dearly loved
3. You are God's very own.

     (It is worth repeating, memorizing, and holding on to)

It is my deepest prayer that all those who were ever abandoned, who ever walked or are walking through life searching for love, or are desperately trying to belong, that You will place your faith in Jesus and search no more.

Why Can't You Marry Someone Else Daddy?

We are snuggled up in bed together and I am listening to Dax and G visit when Dax says, "Daddy do you know why I like to sleep with mommy and be with her?"

G, "Why?"

Dax, "Because I just love her so much and I just want to get big so I can marry her."

G, "Well baby, mommy is already married to me."

Dax, (insert mad voice and crackly voice) "Well why can't you marry someone else daddy?"

Oh mercy my heart can't contain that love. It is too precious, too amazing. It's real and the perfect example of Christ's love for us. His love was so great He died for us. Amazing, amazing love!

Thank You Jesus for these two precious gifts. Thank You for showing me through them the love You have for us. Amen

God's Curse on Those Who Twist the Truth

S-Galatians 1:8-10

S-"So Christ has really set us free. Now make sure that you stay free, and don't get tied up again in slavery to the law." Galatians 5:1

A-Freedom in Christ

L-Calling Out

   **Paul doesn't waste anytime calling out the Judaizers' for twisting the truth of the Good News. Not only does Paul call them out, but he says, "Let God's curse fall on anyone, including myself, who preaches any other message than the one we told you about. Even if an angel comes from heaven and preaches any other message, let him be forever cursed. I will say it again: If anyone preaches any other gospel than the one you welcomed, let God's curse fall upon that person. Obviously, I'm not trying to be a people pleaser! No, I am trying to please God. If I were still trying to please people, I would not be Christ's servant." Galatians 1:8-10

                      I think it is very important for us to understand why Paul used such strong words. Think about what the Judaizers' were doing. They were leading others away from having everlasting life!

It truly became a life and death situation, and it is the same today. When we lead others away from the Good News or when we ourselves our led away from the Good News it becomes a life and death situation.

I want to challenge you today to take everything you are being taught and hold it up to the Word of God and the Good News. If they don't align brethren you better get out, whether it's the Church preaching the twisted truth, a Bible Study teacher, family or friend.

Satan is very very good at twisting things around and making them sound good and right. So we need to be on guard, stay in the Word, and never be afraid to ask questions.

I strongly believe before joining a Church you should go visit with the Pastor. See where his heart is, ask him what he believes. Does it match the Word, does it show in his life? Does it point back to Christ?

Christ's servants, seek to please Christ not man. Paul found himself at a point to let them know that as well.

He knew his statement would offend many, but Paul wasn't trying to please them, he was trying to please God and save them from hell.

Where are you at today? Are you being taught the truth of the Good News that comes from the Word or a twisted version?

S-Share the importance of God's approval not man's, and God's curse that will fall upon anyone who twists the Good News. Remember it truly is a life or death situation.

If It's Anything Other Than God's Truth...Run!

S-The Good News-Romans 1

S-"Therefore, since we have been made right in God's sight by faith, we have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us." Romans 5:1

               **This passage will be our main passage throughout our studies in Romans.

A-God's grace

L-Romans 1:3-5

   I really love how Galatians and Romans are intertwining together. The depth that each Book contains is so solid and refreshing. It's as though the Lord says, just in case you still aren't getting this, let me give it to you again, but in a different way.

If you recall we studied Galatians 1:6-7 last time, and in it, Paul was addressing the issue of those who were  turning away and following a different way that pretended to be the Good News. And I have to tell you, that
as I  chewed on that passage for awhile, God asked me some pretty eye opening questions. (That I then asked my mentor in return-so much love for you Allen Tilley)

What if there are more people following a different way that pretends to be the Good News than we realize?

We automatically assume that everyone who hears the Good News, hears the real, God-breathed Good News, but brethren that just isn't the case today.

So as we read Romans 1:3-5, again, it is my prayer that we will know today if this is the Good News that we are following, believe, and sharing with others. And if it is not, that as we do hear it for the first time, that God would do a great work within us.

"It is the Good News about his Son, Jesus who came as a man, born into King David's royal family line. And Jesus Christ our Lord was shown to be the Son of God when God powerfully raised him from the dead by means of the Holy Spirit. Through Christ, God as given us the privilege and authority to tell Gentiles everywhere what God has done for them, so that they will believe and obey him, bringing glory to his name." Romans 1:3-5

Let's focus on a few key points about the Good News.

1. It is about His (God's)  Son, Jesus. If you are told anything different it is false!!! Run!

2. Jesus came to earth as a man-He was born into King David's royal family line.
            Why is that important for us to know what family line He was born into?
                      -So we could see Scripture fulfilled.

3. He was shown to be the Son of God, when God powerfully raised Him from the dead by means of the Holy Spirit. Here we see Jesus bridge the gap for us. We see the mercy and grace of God flow through His Son.

         *God sent His Son to be the ultimate sacrifice for our sins. Then after dying a horrible death, God raised Him from the dead. And this is where freedom, life, and forgiveness come flooding in.

         *If anyone tells you, you have to work or follow the laws to be saved, it's false!! Run!!

         *"Brothers, listen! In this man Jesus there is forgiveness for your sins. Everyone who believes in him is freed from all guilt and declared right with God-something the Jewish law could never do." Acts 13:38

4. So it is through Christ, that God has given us the privilege and authority to tell people everywhere what God has done for them and for us, so that they will believe and obey Him, and bring glory to His Name.

The Good News brings life! It brings forth forgiveness and freedom from guilt. It does not put a burden on us. If you have been taught anything different, turn and run!!

Let God's truth and love fall all over you today.

S-Jesus I pray we will share of Your goodness today. I pray we will all know and cling to the God-breathed Good News about Your Son Jesus, whom You sent to die for us. I pray we will not be led astray or deceived by false teachers who preach differently. Open our minds and our hearts and fill us with discernment, knowledge, and wisdom to know the difference. Protect us Lord. Amen


     

Any of this found in You?

"For people will love only themselves and their money. They will be boastful and proud, scoffing at God, disobedient to their parents, and ungrateful. They will consider nothing sacred. They will be unloving and unforgiving; they will slander others and have no self-control; they will be cruel and have no interest in what is good. They will betray friends, be reckless, be puffed up with pride, and love pleasure rather than God. They will act as if they are religious, but they will reject the power that could make them godly." 2 Timothy 3:2-5

I have to step aside from Romans and Galatians today and ask you, does this passage describe you? What about your family? Are some of these things weaved in and out of your families life?

Maybe this is not found in you and your husbands home, but what about your immediate family?

This saddens me deeply. It should sadden all of us. This is the complete opposite of what a Christian home and family should be.

We need to pray for our families more. We need to silence the hurtful words with love. We need to remove bitterness and anger with forgiveness.

And as Dax would say, we need to be kind to one another and build each other up.

"Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my thoughts. Point out anything in me that offends you, and lead me along the path of everlasting life." Psalm 139:23-24

As He points out to you all that offends Him, place a check by them. Then confess and repent. Once you have done that spend time thanking Him and ask Him to fill you with His love and Word and to keep you accountable.

May God's love and grace take center stage!!!

Jesus You know what every home is like. You know every word that is spoken, every thought and the condition of every heart. If any of this passage is seen within any of our homes, relationships or hearts, show us. Show us in such a powerful way that the conviction becomes more than we can bear. Thus leading us to surrender, confess, and repent. Take any and all pride and humble us Lord. Amen

There is Only One Good News

S-Galatians 1:6-7

S-"So Christ has really set us free. Now make sure that you stay free, and don't get tied up again in slavery to the law." Galatians 5:1

       **I want to note this passage will be our main passage throughout this study of Galatians. I hope you will memorize it and begin to live it out.

A-Freedom in Christ

L-There is Only One Good News

            *I want to tell you that the Lord impressed upon me to be more mindful of you and not put more out there than we can all chew and digest. So we will only be looking at two to three verses at a time.

     **Galatians 1:6-7 "I am shocked that you are turning away so soon from God, who in his love and mercy called you to share the eternal life he gives through Christ. You are already following a different way that pretends to be the Good News but is not the Good News at all. You are being fooled by those who twist and change the truth concerning Christ." 

     -Who was Paul speaking to in this passage?
                 Christians everywhere and the Churches in Galatia.

     -There are a several questions I want to ask you pertaining to this passage.

                1. Why were they turning away from God so soon?
                          -They fell prey to the smooth talk of the Judaizers and were easily deceived in their new faith and fell into the trap that they had to follow the Jewish laws and customs along with believing in Christ.

                2.  Who was deceiving them with false teaching?
                               -Judaizers

                3.  How was the Good News being twisted?
                              -It became more than faith in Christ and what He did on the Cross. They emphasized the Jewish laws and customs be followed in order to be saved.
                                

Do you know how often we too fall into this same trap? We believe that we have to earn God's love, work for God's love, or follow every law given that we become confused like the Gentiles and law enforcers like the Pharisees and Judaizers.

We need to make sure we have not and are not turning away from God and following false teaching. We must hold every word spoken up to the Word of God and make sure it is centered on Christ and what He did for us upon the Cross. We need to know and cling to the true teaching of the Good News that is found in the Word and allow any man-made teaching, rituals, or laws deceive us in believing something other than God's spoken truth.

Brethren the Good News brings life and freedom, not condemnation and the feeling of failure. None of us can ever be made right with God by trying to keep the law. It is ONLY through faith in Christ that we are saved.

I want to close with a passage from 2 Corinthians 11:3-4;13-15 that I think we all need to meditate on this week and make sure we are not being deceived.

"But I fear that somehow you will be led away from your pure and simple devotion to Christ, just as Eve was deceived by the serpent. You seem to believe whatever anyone tells you, even if they preach about a different Jesus than the one we preach, or a different Spirit than the one you received, or a different kind of gospel than the one you believed." 

"These people are false apostles. They have fooled you by disguising themselves as apostles of Christ. But I am not surprised! Even Satan can disguise himself as an angel of light. So it is no wonder his servants can also do it by pretending to be godly ministers. In the end they will get every bit of punishment their wicked deeds deserve." 

Jesus saves us the law does not. Don't be deceived brethren. Cling to the truth of the Good News.

S-Tell someone about the freedom and life that is found in Christ.

  

Altar Sunday

Taking the most vulnerable part of me today and laying at the altar.

I Will

"I will study your commandments and reflect on your ways. I will delight in your principles and not forget your word." Psalm 119:15-16

Jesus as I study Your Word and reflect on your ways I ask that You place it deep within me. Help me to be still so I can hear from You. Teach me Your ways O Lord that I might walk in your truths and be a living, shinning light that reflects Your truths, love, and grace. Amen

God's Word or the World

"I have hidden your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you." Psalm 119:11

There are two areas the Lord has been convicting me. 

1. My Prayer Life-Pray more and be selfless in my prayers. 

2. Living out the Word more

These two things if done according the Word and with the help and guidance of the Holy Spirit can be extremely powerful. 

And as our Pastor has been asking us lately, "What are we filling our life with? God's Word or the World?

I am left seeing some things I, well, am not so happy with, and that is, I have filled myself with the world a little more than I care to admit to you today. 

But praise God He is faithful to reveal to me areas that are displeasing to Him so that I can confess and repent from them. 

With all that being said I want to challenge you this weekend to evaluate your life. Are you filling yourself with God's Word or the world?

Jesus show us what we are filling our lives with and if it is not Your Word, reveal that to us today. Amen

Funny, Awesome, Real, Random, God ordained, and Melt Your Heart

I had put the boys in the tub and went into the kitchen to finish cleaning up, when Avery starts yelling  "Mama, mama!" "What!"  I of course hollered back. "Mama, Dax got baptized. I baptized Dax."

G and I started laughing and I holler, "That's awesome." When I then hear Avery say, " I baptize you my brother (no pun intended) now go under Dax, go under the water."

Great God moments like this melt our hearts and remind us that God is working in the lives of these precious boys, even if they are still learning the real meaning of it.

Jesus thank You for the random God ordained moments like this that refresh our souls, melt our hearts, and remind us that You are living and working with in the hearts of these two precious gifts. Continue to fill them with wisdom beyond their years, and teach them daily who You are. Amen

Why We Journey The Straight and Narrow

Heaven, joy, peace, healing, forever, the Presence of God...this is why we journey the straight and narrow path, because these few amazing things are what await us in the end.

Do you appreciate these things and what Christ has done for you, enough that you choose to live daily for Him?

Is the path you are on now narrow and straight, or is it wide and full of traffic?

Let the Lord show you and sort that out for you as only He can.

Obligation

S-Romans 1

S-"For I have a great sense of obligation to people in our culture and to people in other cultures, to the educated and uneducated alike. So I am eager to come to you in Rome, too, to preach God's Good News." Romans 1:14-15

A-Our obligation to Christ

L-Paul's Obligation-Our Obligation

    * Why did Paul feel obligated to people everywhere?
           
             Because, just like Christ saved and rescued him, he too wanted to save and rescue others from the death trap of sin, by sharing the Good News about Jesus Christ.

      *In verse 16 of chapter 1 Paul goes on to tell us why he so desperately wanted to go see the Christians in Rome and even gives us insight to our obligation to Christ as well.

    "For I am not ashamed of this Good News about Christ. It is the power of God at work, saving everyone who believes-Jews first and also Gentiles. This Good News tells us how God makes us right in his sight. this is accomplished from start to finish by faith. As the Scriptures say, 'It is through faith that a righteous person has life.'" Romans 1:16-17

We need to remember that the first part of Romans Paul's intentions were to share with the Christians in Rome what they needed to believe, and that was that Christ, the Son of God came as a man, died for our sins and was powerfully raised from the dead. Therefore it is through faith in Him that we are saved.

Secondly we need to remember when this calling on Paul's life began. If you remember from the book of Acts Paul, then Saul was headed to Damascus ready to arrest Christians and take them back to Jerusalem in chains when the Lord got a hold of him, beamed a bright light upon him and asked, "Saul! Saul! Why are you persecuting me?" Upon Saul's reply, 'Who are you sir? And Jesus replied, I am Jesus the one you are persecuting! Now get up and go into the city and you will be told what you are to do."  Acts 9:1-6(My Paraphrase)

Saul got up to find that he was blind and he remained blind for the next three days.

I like this part because Saul had to be led to Damascus by his companions. He needed help! To me this began Paul's suffering and dependence on Jesus.  There is so much depth in this passage.

Further on as we go, we see God's calling on Paul's life and when his obligation to the Lord and people everywhere began. "But the Lord said, 'Go and do what I say. For Saul is my chosen instrument to take my message to the Gentiles and to kings, as well as to the people of Israel. And I will show him how much he must suffer for me." Acts 9:15-16

Why is it important for us to know this?

         * Because just like Paul, we too have been called and have an obligation to the Lord and others. It's called the Great Commission.

                      -"Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Matthew 28:19-20

S-So today, how can we begin to fulfill this Great commission and obligation we have? How can you share with others what Christ has done for you and for them? Share the Good News with someone today.
 

             

Encourage and Encouraged

S- Romans 1

S-"I am eager to encourage you in your faith, but I also want to be encouraged by yours." Romans 1:12

A- let our faith be an encouragement 

L- The Good News brings great encouragement

    Paul was always encouraging believers everywhere.  If you study his letters encouragement is weaves all throughout them. 

Why is encouragement important?

  Better yet why is Scriptural encouragement important?

        It builds us up in our faith.

        It keeps us strengthened

        It gives us courage to stand firm and to continue spreading the Good News

        It places our attention on Christ's goodness and faithfulness.

        It brings hope

Scriptural encouragement is so much better than worldly encouragement.

Do you know the difference between the two?

Let's look and see we can apply Paul's encouragement to the Christians in Rome and the Churches in Galatia.

Romans 1:8-"Let me first of all say that your faith in God is becoming known throughout the world. How I thank God through Jesus Christ for each one of you. God knows how often I pray for you. Day and night I bring you and your needs in prayer to God, whom I serve with all my heart by telling others the Good News about his Son." 

Galatians 1:3-5-"May grace and peace be yours from God our Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ. He died for our sins, just as God our Father planned, in order to rescue us from this evil world in which we live. That is why all glory belongs to God through all the ages of eternity. Amen." 

We can use these two Scriptures to encourage one another and to be encouraged.

Ways to Encourage

   -Focus on areas their faith is growing
   -Tell them how thankful you are for them
   -Pray with them (It speaks volumes when you actually stop and pray instead of just say you will pray)
   -Show them grace, and pray God's grace over them.
   -Share with them, remind them, and tell them what Christ did for them and that they have been rescued from this evil world.

    -Then together praise God for His love and kindness.

Ways we are Encouraged

   -When we encourage with God's Word, His love and encouragement falls back upon us.
   -When we encourage others, our eyes are off of ourselves and our hearts begin to fill up with joy.
   -We too are rescued
   -The faith of our brothers and sisters supplies us with the same courage, strength, hope, and ability to keep standing firm.

How can you encourage someone with the Word of God?

S-Let's share encouragement with one another today.

 

Altar Sunday

Today I pray that all of us who claim to be followers of Christ will stop saying it and live it.

It's easy to tell someone we believe in Jesus but its a whole other thing to actually live it out.

The Book of Romans and SSALS

A-The Truth of the Good News

L- Romans 1-What to Believe

         * Date Written- A.D. 57-from Corinth

         * Author-Paul

         * Purpose-to introduce Paul to the Romans and to give a sample of his message before he arrived in Rome. 

The book of Romans is jammed pack with the foundations of faith. Paul was very organized in this letter. He breaks down the sin of humanity, the importance of forgiveness, freedom, and our responsibility as followers of Christ. He wanted the Christians in Rome to know about his faith in Christ and how God intervened and saved us from the death trap of sin.

Paul began his letter by saying, "This letter is from Paul, Jesus Christ's slave, chosen by God to be an apostle and sent out to preach his Good News." Romans 1:1
  
            Why did Paul call himself a slave to Christ?

             Do we today, consider ourselves a slave for Christ?

Paul wanted and was willingly to submit all of himself to serving Jesus and going out and spreading the truth of the Good News. No matter the circumstances Paul faced or was in, he continued to submit to his Master-Jesus.

In Chapter 1 Paul gets straight down to business. Following the opening of his letter Paul says, "This Good News was promised long ago by God through his prophets in the holy Scriptures. It is the Good News about his Son, Jesus, who came as a man, born into King David's royal family line. And Jesus Christ our Lord was shown to be the Son of God when God powerfully raised him from the dead by means of the Holy Spirit. Through Christ, God has given us the privilege and authority, to tell Gentiles everywhere what God has done for them, so that they will believe and obey him, bringing glory to his name." Romans 1:2-5

Paul was very thorough in describing the Good News and so should we. Not only that but we need to have the same attitude and understanding that Paul did. In verse 5 Paul says, through Christ, God has given us the privilege and authority to tell people everywhere what God has done for them, so that they will believe and obey him, thus bringing glory to His name. (Paraphrase mine)

Do we see sharing the Good News about Christ as a privilege? Do we see that we as followers of Christ now have the authority and call to go out and share it?

Jesus as we dive into these two aw some books-Galatians and Romans open our hearts and our eyes to see and absorb all this amazing truth that lies within them. Show us how we can be better ambassadors for You. Amen

S-Go out and share the Good  News about Christ with others, let them know what God did for them so they too will come to know Christ, believe in Him, obey Him, thus bringing glory to His name. 

The Book of Galatians and SSALS

Over the next however long, I will be studying the book of Galatians along with Romans. I am super excited about this study and all that God is going to pour into this heart of mine. I will be using a lot more of SSALS (Study, Store, Apply, Live/Learn, and Share) as I go along. I hope you will bury up with me over the next long while.

S-Galatians 1-The Authenticity of the gospel.
 
S- "He died for our sins, just as God our Father planned, in order to rescue us from this evil world in which we live. That is why all glory belongs to God through all the ages of eternity. Amen." Galatians 1:4-5

A-Freedom in Christ through the rescuing of His death and blood 

L- The Gospel and the Rescue

*The Book of Galatians was written appr. A.D. 49 from Antioch, prior to the Jerusalem council 

* The purpose-To refute the Judaizers who taught that Gentile believers must obey the Jewish law in order to be saved, and to call Christians to faith and freedom in Christ.

*Author-Paul 

The time this book was written, there was a lot of controversy about the Gospel. The Judaizers were claiming that the Gentiles had to obey the Jewish law in order to be saved, and that just isn't the case. It was the wrong gospel message, thus God used Paul to set it straight and bring believers back to the pure gospel.  

So what is the pure, real, authentic Gospel? God's Good News is for everyone, Salvation is God's grace to us through faith in Jesus Christ. It is centered on God. The death of Christ thus bringing about the death of our sin (We must daily die to ourselves.) The gift and power of the Holy Spirit within us, we are saved by faith in Christ not by keeping the law. We are one in Christ, and we are set free from sin and death.  

When we understand this we also understand and know this we understand freedom in a whole new light. 

The opening chapter of Galatians Paul comes out strong. He doesn’t wait to speak of the truth or to address the problem at hand. I like this about Paul. He tells it as it is.  

Paul makes it very clear that He was called by Christ Himself to write this letter. (Galatians 1:1)  

Why do you think it was important for Paul to do that?

                -Because many people questioned and doubted His authority to speak on such matters. 

As we read further on in verse 4 Paul makes a very powerful statement about Christ, His love, and why the pure gospel offers such freedom.

“He died for our sins, just as God our Father planned, in order to rescue us from this evil world in which we live. That is why all glory belongs to God through all the ages of eternity. Amen.” Galatians 1:4-5 

To be rescued from this evil world means that we are free from the confinement of sin, its danger and the evilness of it. We are saved and delivered, no longer held captive. The chains have been broken. 

Jesus died to set me free. His death saved me. There is praise to be made, glory and honor to be given. So why do I often walk as though I am still held captive by my sin? 

Jesus teach me through this powerful verse how to live in the freedom of God’s grace. Help me to not fall back into the slavery of the law and sin. I want to walk with joy and confidence because I am free.  

I have been saved by Christ to live for Christ.  In the book of Romans there are several passages that help us understand how to live in freedom and that it is for everyone, even us.

Romans 3:22-“We are made right in God’s sight when we trust in Jesus Christ to take away our sins. And we all can be saved in this same way, no matter who we are or what we have done.”

God’s tells us very specifically right here. No matter who you are or what you have done, if you trust in my Son Jesus Christ and believe that He will take away your sins, you will be saved. 

There is hope, hope for all mankind.  You can be set free from the bondage and entanglement of sin!

Jesus there is always so much to take in when we study Your Word. Thank You for the unending amount of knowledge and wisdom that pours out over us as we study Your Word. As we take in all that You have taught us today, I ask with complete faith that it will stick within our hearts second by second setting us free from any bondage of sin we are in. Show us and teach us today more about the freedom that comes from the pure Gospel truth.

Set Free

"So Christ has really set us free. Now make sure that you stay free, and don't get tied up again in slavery to the law." Galatians 5:1

Set free from the bondage of sin and death, by the blood and death of Jesus Christ.

Have you thanked Him today for setting you free?

Do You Know?

Do you know God loved you when no one else did? Ezekiel 16:6-8

Do you know He is the only one that knows everything about you and still loves and desires to be with you? Psalm 139

Do you know that God had you in mind when He sent His only Son to earth to die? John 3:16

Do you know that you are of value and have been set apart for the Lord? Jeremiah 1:4-5

Do you know that the Lord promises to never leave you nor forsake you? Hebrews 13:5

Today I come to the altar for him.

When Your Name is Mentioned

When people hear or mention your name, does Jesus immediately pop into their heads? Isn't that what reflecting Jesus is all about?

You being put aside and Jesus being seen and thought of?

The Golden Rule

"Do for others what you would like them to do for you." Matthew 7:12

 I think the greatest place to start is by seeking the Lord and asking Him to reveal to you how exactly you want to be treated.

This might sound crazy but the truth is we have fallen far away from this Golden Rule.

All throughout Scripture we see how the Lord treats us and He did it knowing that it might not ever be reciprocated.

After you have sought the Lord's counsel then I say make a list. List out 10 ways or things you would like others to do for you or how you want them to treat you and then you begin to do it for them first.

I think it is wise to go into this knowing that it's not about you getting something in return, but that you are returning the same love Christ has given and shown you.

I think we could all apply this Golden rule a little more than we do.

Jesus cleanse me from self, so that I can offer all of me to loving and serving others the way You have taught me to, with selflessness and mercy. You have done the most amazing things for me and I want to pour that out onto others. Forgive me for failing to obey You in this area. Amen

The Two Women that Fulfill this Verse

"Similarly, teach the older women to live in a way that honors God. They must not slander others or be heavy drinkers. Instead, they should teach others what is good. These older women must train the younger women to love their husbands and their children, to live wisely and be pure, to work in their homes, to do good, and to be submissive to their husbands. Then they will not bring shame on the word of God." Titus 2:3-5

There are two women in my life who have taken me under their wings and teach me daily what a godly woman looks like.

They fulfill every part of this Scripture. They are rare and very special.

My mom and Sue Gee!

I learn from them daily and soak up every ounce of wisdom that the Lord pours out of them.

They are some of the greatest blessings! I value their opinion and I know, when they say they will pray for me, that they will truly pray for me. They don't just talk it they walk it and you can see it in every part of their lives.

I need them in my life! I want to sit and learn from them. I love to see how God has worked in their lives. I love and desire to have a home and family that is as blessed as theirs is because of their faithfulness to Christ.

They are beyond beautiful on the inside. Jesus I. Them shines so bright you can't help but to be drawn to Him.

They are humble, gracious, merciful, loving, wise, and two of the most precious jewels in my life.

It is my prayer for you, that God will bring a truly godly woman into your life to teach you His ways, His truths, His love. So that one day you can fulfill this passage and bless another woman. Ladies we need these women!

Jesus I know the importance of having godly women in my life and I am so blessed to have these two amazing women in mine. Bless them Father as they daily seek to serve and honor You. Thank You that they daily give of themselves to teach women the importance of Your Word and love. Jesus help me to live this passage out! I want to do the same thing for other women that these two did and do for me daily. Amen

At What Point?

"Don't let anyone lead you astray with empty philosophy and high-sounding nonsense that come from human thinking and from the evil powers of this world, and not from Christ. At what point did we start allowing the world to control our thoughts rather than God's Word?

We have to bring Christ and His Word back to the forefront of our minds and control us. Otherwise we will be led astray by the lies of Satan.

Jesus this is so much easier said than done. Please take control of our every thought and hold it captive, examining it with Your Word. If any thought is found to be opposite of what Your Word says, give us the strength, discipline, and self-control to remove it.  So many times we don't even think before we act and in return we express ugliness through our speech and attitude. Father give us the ability to push our feelings and emotions aside and allow the truth of Your Word and the power of the Holy Spirit to take over and be in control. Remove us from the thrones we have placed ourselves on. Amen

Do You Get Bogged Down...

Do you get bogged down by the problems, frustrations, sin, and failures in your life?

If so take heart, "For every child of God defeats this evil world by trusting Christ to give the victory. And the ones who win this battle against the world are the ones who believe that Jesus is the Son of God." 1 John 5:4-5

Christ will help us bear the load.

It's My Choice

"It is by our actions that we know we are living in the truth, so we will be confident when we stand before the Lord, even if our hearts condemn us. For God is greater than our hearts, and he knows everything." 1 John 3:19-20


I can spend my day focusing inward on myself, my wants, or my failures OR I can get up, put my focus on Christ and others and take action doing what pleases the Lord.

It's my choice.

Altar Sunday

Today you can find me at the altar, praying for you. Nothing in general, just everything specific, just as the Holy Spirit would have it.

My Heart's Daily Desire

"Teach me your ways, O Lord, that I may live according to your truth! Grant me the purity of heart, so that I may honor you." Psalm 86:11

Jesus let this verse become my hearts daily desire. Amen

Acknowledge His Goodness

"I will give thanks to your name for your unfailing love and faithfulness, because your promises are backed by all the honor of your name." Psalm 138:2

The more we focus on Christ's goodness the more we allow change to take place within us. It's a good change, a needed change. It takes our focus off of our problems, the negative, our doubts, fears, and shines light on His faithfulness, love, mercy, forgiveness, and kindness.

The more we do it, the more joy we will have. The more love we will have, the more we will be grateful for the things He has given us. The more content we will become. And the more we will experience healing and hope.

Jesus thank You for Your goodness. Thank You for all You do every second of every day. Amen

Expressing the Faith We Claim To Believe

“Dear brothers and sisters, what’s the use of saying you have faith if you don’t prove it by your actions? That kind of faith can’t save anyone.” James 2:14

Jesus I don’t want to only have mere words that speak of faith, yet never show it. It is easier to read and speak of faith, but to actually live it out…

That is real, genuine faith. It requires a heart that has been transformed by the blood of Christ and the filling of the Holy Spirit, which will then express a real transformation.

It is no longer the same as it used to be.

If we are going to claim to believe it with words, then we must express with our actions.

Oh Mercy

"So again I say, each man must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband." Ephesians 5:33 

Since G stepped out of football, we have spent more time together in the last 8 months than we have in the last 9 years.

This has been great, yet hard at the same time. We are learning a lot of new things about one another. 

And the Lord is teaching me a thing or two as well. The biggest is treating G with respect and building him up with words of affirmation, which just happens to be his love language. 

I am horrible at this! I will admit it! 

So seeking God’s help in this, I want to hit on a few verses that God has brought up from the store well of my heart. 

“In the same way, you wives must accept the authority of your husbands, even those who refuse to accept the Good News. Your godly lives will speak to them better than any words. They will be won over by watching your pure, godly behavior.” 1 Peter 3:1-2 

          -  G is a believer and lover of Christ and I am so thankful. So in that I must listen to him and respect his decisions for our family in all Spiritual matters. In doing so I can than also share my heart with him and know it will be received. 

“A gentle answer turns away wrath, but harsh words stir up anger.” Proverbs 15:1

            -Seek peace, no matter how heated the conversation might become.  I need to learn to hold my tongue, take a few minutes, let the Lord calm my heart, and then reply.  

“A wise woman builds her house; a foolish woman tears hers down with her own hands.” Proverbs 14:1

                I want a home built on Christ, not bitterness, frustration, stress, etc. This is up to me; I need to be active, obedient, and mindful of my home.

“A worthy wife is her husband’s joy and crown; a shameful wife saps his strength.” Proverbs 12:4

                -I can tell very quickly when I am zapping G’s strength. His entire body expresses it.

“Beginning a quarrel is like opening a floodgate, so drop the matter before a dispute breaks out.” Proverbs 17:14

                -Is this worth making a big deal about? Don’t speak of something that will cause a fight. Take it the Lord first Kristi.

“It is better to live alone in the corner of an attic than with a contentious wife in a lovely home.” Proverbs 21:9

                -This speaks for itself. Bless his heart!

“It is better to live alone in the desert than with a crabby, complaining wife.” Proverbs 21:19

                -Oh mercy help us Jesus. Baby thanks for not packing your bags.

I am beginning to see that how I treat G is how I treat the Lord; if I am ugly and hurtful, complaining and negative, disrespectful and lack love and mercy towards G, I also am treating Jesus the same way. And that just plain hurts!

Oh, mercy Father help me have more respect for You first, which will lead to more respect and love for G. I need Your help; I can’t overcome this on my own. Thank You for Your mercy and love for me at all times. Even when I don’t deserve it You give it anyway. Help me to be mindful of this, and show G the same love and mercy I am shown. This has been years of doing, years of hurtfulness that I can’t take back. Forgive Father I want to be a loving and respectful wife. Keep me accountable to this Father. Amen

 

Altar Sunday

Today I come to the altar for the lost. For the family member who is lost and confused, whose time is becoming shorter by the day.

Today I come to the altar for the women enslaved by sex trafficking, abuse, abandonment, addiction, and brokenness.

Today I come to the altar for those battling cancer.

Today I come to the one who can take care of it all.

Where?

When life gets hectic, stressful, overwhelming, frustrating, scary, sad, etc.where do you go to find peace?

Was Jesus your first answer?

It's What He Wants

"No, O people, the LORD has already told you what is good, and this is what he requires: to do what is right, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God." Micah 6:8

Jesus as we focus on Your Word let it penetrate to the depths of our hearts cleansing as it passes by every dirty and sinful area. 

May it renew us and bring us to action. Action that expresses our time spent with You and the love that overflows from within.

The truth is Jesus, we need You. We need Your help on a daily basis. We often try to make our own requirements all to come up short and frustrated. Only You know what is best and pleasing to You. 

Show us Your ways and soften the stubbornness of our hearts so we can fulfill Your requirement and live lives that do good, love mercy, and walk humbly with You. Amen

May today be the day...

"In the time of my favor I heard you, and in the day of salvation I helped you. I tell you, know is the time of God's favor, now is the day of salvation."  2 Corinthians 6:2

I could tell by her voice on the other end of the phone that she was worried. Worried about him, his health, his soul.

She asked, "Kristi do you think he knows? I just don't know if he knows. Do you?"

Her concern has been my concern for sometime. So what do you do when he chooses to not listen, when he changes the subject?

You trust Jesus more, you pray more, and you continue to talk, even if he doesn't want to. Because at this point minutes even hours are valuable for him.

But Jesus, He knows, and He is waiting.

Brethren our family time is valuable and we need to be doing what God has called us to do to ensure that all of our family knows Jesus.

I believe that the Lord will soften his heart and that he will be open and receptive. I believe this, because Jesus loves us and wants us to come to know Him. He wants to give us everlasting life, full of joy and peace that goes way beyond the world's definition.

Our lives are like a vapor, here today and gone tomorrow. Salvation is not something we should put off. Today is the day. It's life or death and there is no way around it.

Heaven or Hell, those are the options.

For me, I refuse to stay silent. I choose to speak about Jesus whether the timing is right or not, because hell is just not a place I want any of my family to be. "Preach the word of God. Be persistent, whether the time is favorable or not. Patiently correct, rebuke, and encourage your people with good teaching." 2 Timothy 4:2  I do believe and know God will prompt us at the exact times, so we need to be ready.

Jesus you know our families need. You know the situation at hand, the health and the time remaining. Open his heart to hear from You, to receive You, to know You and to soon be with You. Ultimately it is his choice, and You already know the outcome. I trust You and know that You are always at work. Be with her Father as she continues to share Your love with him. May today be the day, his heart becomes Yours. Amen

Hard Work is a Requirement

"Turn away from evil and do good. Work hard at living in peace with others." Psalm 34:14

When I read this passage I am reminded that to have peace and live in peace I must work hard at creating peace.

Peace does not come effortlessly. It requires work, humility, and selflessness.

Jesus teach me how to be a peacemaker. You set the perfect example for us and I want to follow in Your footsteps. Amen
