1.    The 1^st Generation Ends

-Exodus 1:5-10

a.     Jacob had _______________________direct descendants that moved with him to Egypt. Among them were Jacob’s 12 sons (Joseph was already in Egypt.)

b.     Exodus 1:6-

                                                        i.     It is not clear exactly how many Israelites make up the 1^st generation, but we can assume it began with Abraham and ended with the last brother of the 12.

1.     -Bonus question: How long did the Israelites stay in the land of Egypt?

2.    The Israelites grow in Number

Exodus 1:7-

o   Although we are not given a number, we do get a visual picture of how quickly the 2^nd generation multiplies in number.

§  The latter part of verse 7-“They soon filled the land.”

§  Due to such rapid growth we become aware of the character of the new King.

3.    A New King takes the Throne

-Exodus 1:8-10

§  The most important verse in this chapter is found in verse 8

·      “Then a new king came to the throne of Egypt who knew NOTHING about Joseph or what he had done.”

o   Do you think if the new Pharaoh new about Joseph things would have been differently?

§  We don’t know, but what we do know is this new Pharaoh was heartless.

§  According to verses 9-10 what three things can we gather about Pharaoh’s character?

4.    Heavy Burdens are Placed upon the Israelites

5.    Shiprah and Puah

·      Knowing their profession what did Pharaoh order these two women to do?

o   What purpose would this serve?

·      What two words could we use to describe these two Hebrew Midwives?

o   Exodus 1:17-“But because the midwives feared God, they refused to obey the king and allowed the boys to live, too.”

·      Courage

o   Exodus 1:18-19-“Then the kind called for the midwives. ‘ Why have you done this?’ He demanded. ‘Why have you allowed the boys to live?’ Sir, they told him, the Hebrew women are very strong. They have their babies so quickly that we cannot get there in time! They are not slow in giving birth like Egyptian women.”

§  Though these two women lied, they refused to obey Pharaoh’s order. They took a bold stand for what was right.

·      When we are asked to do something that goes against God’s Word, do we take a bold stand and say no?

o   There are many areas in our lives where those in authority ask us to do things that go against God’s Word. It might not even be those who are over us, but those who are right beside us, our friends, our family.

§  We must always obey God rather than man.

§  Just like Shiprah and Puah were blessed for their obedience to God, so will we if we remain obedient.

·      Pharaoh remained relentless in his efforts to kill off the newborn baby boys. But we will soon see in the end that this comes back to haunt him.

Take-Away

Do you know how long 400 years is? So many people born into slavery, it’s crazy, yet we are still born into slavery today-slavery to sin. However, today we have the option to get out of slavery at a young age, because of Christ. But many still choose to remain in that slavery and for some it takes years and years for them to be delivered.

Do you know what is sad? Is how many people sit in Church pews that are still in bondage, yet willingly choose to stay there.

What and Who?

"Don’t you realize that you become the slave of whatever you choose to obey? You can be a slave to sin, which leads to death, or you can choose to obey God, which leads to righteous living." Romans 6:16

Who are you a slave to? 

Many might answer no one, but in reality we are all a slave to something or someone. 

As our Pastor challenged us to figure out who we are a slave to, it made begin to evaluate if I was truly a slave to Christ or myself more. 

It's not always easy to have these conversations with Christ, especially when you know the truth. 

I desire to be a slave to Christ, but often times it seems I can be more a slave to self. 

This I despise, because being a slave to self produces things that are hard to overcome and break free from. 

Being a slave to self often results in worldliness, pride, selfishness, laziness, greed, jealousy, anger and bitterness. It also produces insecurity, doubt and lack of contentment. 

I am pretty certain, many of us our slaves to self and have been for a long time. 

But there is hope for us, Jesus promises to set us free from our bondage. 

He has made a way where we no longer have to live according to our flesh or the law. He did this by taking our place on the Cross. He took our sins upon Himself and He died so we would not have to. 

In return, when we accept Christ as our personal Lord and Savior, as He enters us and fills us with the Holy Spirit we can rise in freedom. Our old self is gone and we are new in Jesus. 

We no longer have to live as slaves to self. We no longer have to live under its condemnation, insecurity, doubt and misery. 

Instead, we can be slaves to Christ. 

We can live under His commands, promises and truth. Which bring joy, hope, excitement, protection, peace, love, forgiveness, healing and many more blessings. 

I would rather be a slave to Christ and be free than be a slave to self and live in bondage. In order to do this I have to make my Adam's suit do what it doesn't want to do- Die to self.

What is it about Jesus that motivates you to be the best you can be for Him?

What is it about Jesus that makes you want to tell others about Him?

What is it about Jesus that makes you want to live like Him?

How does He give you hope?

How does He strengthen you?

How does He give you confidence?

Why do you believe in Him?

This sweet boy got married today. It was the sweetest wedding. (And VERY emotional)

Weldon, we are so proud of the man you have become. You have modeled Christ and lived out His Word in a marvelous way. Not only have you taught and shown Avery and Dax what it means to be a godly young man, but they will now get to see what a Godly husband looks like. 

You are prayed for daily and loved beyond words. We are thrilled to be apart of you and Lily's life. 

A & D,

As you age there will come times in your life when you feel overwhelmed. The stress' that come with responsibility will seem more than you can handle at times. 

And when those days come, may you find yourselves on your knees, praising The Lord for what He did for you. 

Remember His suffering, rememeber the Cross. Remember the persecution and mockery He faced. 

Let His love and faithfulness bring peace to your weary and worn hearts. 

Let His strength and power and victory give you strength to rise up and keep fighting the fight. 

Clothe yourselves in His promises. Especially His promise to never give you more than you can handle. 

Jesus will never leave you nor forsake you. He knows every burden you will carry, every frustration you will have, every doubt you will think and speak. He knows what you can and can't handle. 

So in those times of stress and feeling overwhelmed may you sense His peace and presence, as you come before Him with an open, honest and willing heart. 

Keep your ears open always seeking to hear His voice. 

Jesus overcame the greatest persecution, and  it is through Him, that you too will be able to overcome those days that seem overwhelming.

Altar Sunday

Sometimes we spend more time praying than we do going out and being active and involved.

And sometimes, Jesus has to give us a nudge to remind us, praying is great, but going out and doing is just as powerful and necessary. 

Don't use prayer to put off what you know you should be doing. 

Replaceable

She has only been gone a year. It's been a hard year. A year of many changes and life adjustments. 

They have each dealt with her loss differently. 

For him, it's been hard, really hard. He not only continues the role as daddy, but he steps into the role as mommy. 

A role he thought no one could fulfill. 

And then he met her and something began to change. The part of him that felt dead, began to come alive again. 

Yet from the outside looking in, as a mommy, all I could see was how replaceable we really are.

This is very hard to swallow. No she will never be forgotten, she will always be the mother of his children, but with her passing she suddenly became replaceable. 

How do you deal with knowing everyone is replaceable? 

You turn to Jesus. You will never be replaceable to Him. You are of such great value He gave His life in order to ensure you would be with Him forever. 

There is no replacing His love. It can't be moved or taken. Once you become His it's permanent. 

Yes, the reality of human life is hard, because we so often replace one another, whether by divorce, death, disagreements, dislikes, selfishness, anger, etc.

But not Jesus, He will never replace you, leave you, forsake you, or give up on you. 

It's the only relationship you can be sure is forever. It's the only relationship that will last an eternity. 

So, though we are replaced here on earth, in heaven and to Jesus we are irreplaceable. 

Every Minute You Have A Choice

"And the Spirit gives us desires that are opposite from what the sinful nature desires." Galatians 5:17

Everyday God allows you to rise, He also allows you to rise and choose. 

You have the option to choose joy, love, peace, patience, calmness, kindness, health and fulfillment. 

It's a daily choice, rather it's a minute by minute choice. Either way God allows you the option to choose. 

More times than not, we choose to complain rather than be thankful. We choose to feel defeated rather than rise up and fight. We choose to be grumpy rather than kind. We choose self over others. We choose laziness over hard work and health. We choose bitterness over forgiveness. 

It seems easier to choose those things, because the other takes work, commitment, dedication, faithfulness and trust in God to give us the strength to overcome our flesh. 

But in reality grumpiness, laziness, selfishness, poor health, bitterness and complaining are a lot more work and a lot harder on our bodies.

They deplete us of energy, they require constant attention, and they fill us with sickness. 

Everyday you have to decide for yourself what you will choose. No one can decide  for you or do it for you. God gave you and me the ability to choose to be active, to be strong, courageous, confident and victorious. 

It's true we will never be able to choose wisely on our own, not will our own human effort accomplish these things on its own. 

But our spirit, which is willing is also able!!

"It is the Spirit who gives eternal life. Human effort accomplishes nothing." John 6:63

Choose the power of the Spirit which will enable you to choose life and all it's blessings. 

What choices will you make today?

Gentle Words

"Gentle words bring life and health; a deceitful tongue crushes the spirit." Proverbs 15:4

Gentle words begin with listening. Gentle words come from a heart that is selfless. Gentle words come from a heart full of love for others and the condition of their hearts. 

When harsh words are spoken, the pain lasts and lingers within our hearts. Harsh words damage others. The crush/blow of harsh words reveal a truth and the condition of our hearts. 

Speak life. Speak in love. Be prayerful before you speak. Think of the impact your words will have on others before you speak them. 

The Laughter

It's this unexplainable laughter that fills the air, when they talk. 

He has a way to make them giggle like no one else. 

The loudness of their laugh sets off a particular aroma that fills every inch of our home with joy. 

It literally clears out any frustrations, any anger, any sadness. 

Daddy's way of bringing joy into the lives of our boys is irreplaceable, unexplainable, and overwhelmingly amazing. 

Jesus does all of that plus more. Open your ears to hear the laughter and goodness of Christ. 

Redeemed

"Since God did not spare even his own Son but gave him up for us all, won't God, who gave us Christ, also give us everything else?" Romans 8:32

You, my sweet lovely, have been redeemed!

God redeemed you, He bought you, He saved you by giving up His Son, Jesus. 

You were not spared by the blood or death of an animal, you were spared by the death and blood of Jesus Christ. 

A man, who willingly gave up His life in order to save yours. 

Let that marvelous, uncontainable love fall afresh upon you today. 

Walk In It

You are loved by the Creator of heaven and earth, life and death. Walk in the confidence of His love today. 

Two Better Halves

“Who am I, O Sovereign Lord, and what is my family, that you have brought me this far? And now, Sovereign Lord, in addition to everything else, you speak of giving your servant a lasting dynasty! Do you deal with everyone this way, O SovereignLord?

What more can I say to you? You know what your servant is really like, Sovereign Lord. Because of your promise and according to your will, you have done all these great things and have made them known to your servant.

 “How great you are, O Sovereign Lord! There is no one like you. We have never even heard of another God like you!" 2 Samuel 7:18-22

It's this amazing relationship that constantly makes you aware of your need for your better half. 

I happen to have two better halves. Jesus and my earthly better half, G.

Learning to seperate the two and depend more on the one who matters most can be difficult. 

But the closer I grow to Christ, the more I realize how crucial my relationship is with Him. He is the only one out of the two that can love unconditionally, that sees more of me than I do myself. He is the one I will spend the rest of my life with. 

My relationship with Christ is far greater and more important than the one I have with G. 

As The Lord and I were spending time together He was telling me that I have been putting more into G than Him. That needs to change. 

My relationship with Christ should be the first and most important relationship in my life and my relationship with G is the added benefit and blessing from Christ.

The more I love and serve Christ the more I will express that love in my relationship with G.

I am always learning, but this lesson might be one of my favorite. 

I love when Jesus shows me in very visual ways the joy and benefit of our relationship and how, through our relationship, my other relationships will thrive, strengthen and grow. 

My prayer and desire is for my relationship with Christ to be so strong, that it is seen through my earthly relationships, especially in my marriage.

Let Your Worth Be Found In Jesus

"So God created people in his own image; God patterned them after himself; male and female he created them."…Then God looked over all he had made, and he saw that it was excellent in every way." Genesis 1:27;31

As He began creating you, He had your purpose in mind. He focused on every detail and found joy in them all.

His love for you is immeasurable, undesirable, and often incomprehensible.

When He formed you, He placed His image within you. Thus, making you of great value and worth.

You have been marked by the Most Holy God!

His desire for you began before a single day of your life had passed.

His gift of life, came in the form of His Son, Jesus who gave up His own life for you.

You will never receive a greater gift.

God didn't stop there, to ensure you knew just how loved, valued and of worth you are, He left us His Word and the Holy Spirit.

His Word reveals His promises. The Holy Spirit in us confirms those promises.

His Word sets boundaries of protection. The Holy Spirit ensures we stay within those boundaries.

His Word reveals His love. The Holy Spirit confirms that love.

His Word gives us hope, comfort and guidance. The Holy Spirit reminds us of His promises to always be with us.

Everything God did, He did with you in mind.

Don't let the world or others tell you anything different. If you need reassurance, study His Word. Let His Word remind you who you are. You are a child of God, formed in His image, created for His purpose, of great value and worth, loved beyond measure, and desired by the Most Holy God who sent His Son to die for you.

Study Psalm 139 and let God lavish His love upon you as He reminds you who He is.

Because He Chose To Be Different

You chose to be different. You chose Jesus. You chose to walk according to the Word even when others and the world said differently. You have led men young and old. Through your love and actions you have taught many of them who Jesus is. You are one of the most respected men because of your love for Christ. You chose to raise your babies in the Word of God and teach them the importance of being men of courage, love, and men of integrity who are passionate about Jesus. There are many men, many dads, but you my love are a rare one. You are amazing. Your love for Jesus is contagious. Your love for us is astounding, breath-taking and marvelous. Thank you for choosing Jesus. Thank you for teaching our boys the most important things, to love Christ first, your family second, and others third.

Ladies

Ladies, is your relationship with Christ at a point,  if you were completely alone you would still know who you are in Him?

Is your relationship solid enough, you can stand in confidence because of it?

My Description of Christ in Flesh

If I were to describe Jesus in flesh, I would describe you. You are a man of integrity, honesty, love, devotion, faithfulness and compassion. 

You have shown me why serving Jesus is the greatest and best joy of my life.

You have taught me how to be a woman who loves and respects my husband. Your love for us can't be explained. 

You have shown and taught us the importance of serving others and how that is one of the greatest ways to reflect and point others to Christ.

Your love for mama is indescribable. 

There is not a person on earth that does not love and respect you. 

You have been the most loving, comforting and merciful daddy. 

My words will NEVER be able to express how amazing you are and how much I love you. 

Thank you, daddy for showing me Jesus. Thank you, daddy for always encouraging me to grow in my walk. Thank you, daddy for never giving up on me. Thank you for teaching me the importance of a personal relationship with Christ. 

You are the perfect picture of my Heavenly Father in flesh and I am ever so grateful to be your baby! 

I will always be your baby who is passionately in love with you. 

Thank you for the countless hours you have spent in prayer for me over the last 34 years. 

You are extremely loved and adored. Every day I get with you here is an absolute treasure and gift. I am better because of your daily love.

Choose the High Road

"Those who are short-tempered do foolish things, and schemers are hated." Proverbs 14:17

Do you attack others because they aren't doing what you want or saying what you want them to say, OR have they truly done something that has offended you?

This is a question that requires real honesty before The Lord, all of which not many will admit.

More times than not we turn our selfishness and frustrations onto others to try and ease the convictions of our own downfalls. 

Before you react to someones short temper and harsh remarks, take a moment and evaluate the situation. Then ask them, "Are you frustrated because I am not responding or doing what you want or have I truly offended you in some way."

If it's because of their own selfishness, don't respond any further. If you have truly offended them, let the Holy Spirit confirm it, and then apologize immediately. 

This will produce a peacemaker within you rather than one who stirs up more dissension by fighting back. 

Remember, Jesus chose the higher road and so should we. Be the bigger person and hold your tongue and create peace. 

A New Day is A New Oppurtunity

This morning I had the choice to either  sleep in or get up and meet with Jesus. I chose Jesus.

Today I will have many choices. 

Some of these choices I am given every single day. 

I am given the choice to choose...

Jesus or self

Love or hate

Forgiveness or bitterness

Kindness or ugliness

Peace or dissension

Trust or doubt 

Faith or disbelief 

Joy or grumpiness

Encouragement or discouragement

To serve or not to serve (or demand to be served)

Humbleness or pride

Obedience or disobedience

Heaven or Hell

Hope or defeat

Jesus or the World

His promises or Satan's lies

Righteousness or sinfulness

Healthy eating or unhealthy eating

Self control or no control

Listen or not to listen

Respect or disrespect

And the choices go on and on. 

Every SINGLE DAY I am given these choices, and every NEW day God gives me, is another day He is giving me the opportunity to  make the right choice. 

And in order to make the right choice I have to allow the Holy Spirit to be in complete control, without Him, I am unfit to choose what is right. 

I Can't Change Yours But I Can Change Mine

Jesus I can't change the choices others make, but I can change the choices I make. Help me through the power of the Holy Spirit to make wise choices that are aligned with Your Word. For then, my choices will produce godly outcomes. Amen

Altar Sunday

Jesus open the flood gates of heaven and let Your loving mercy fall upon us. 

We long for Your presence. Overwhelm us in a way that leaves in awe. 

We come anticipating Your arrival. May we be prepared! 

Step Out

 I believe now more than ever, we need to be visible, audible, and able to be felt. Why? Because our computers, phones, and I Pad's are mere barriers that offer only black and white words.

People still need hugs. People still need to feel the love of Jesus. They need to be able to hear every expression, whether it be through laughter, sadness, frustration, etc. They need to see tears, joy, hope, love, kindness, gentleness and forgiveness in the flesh.

Technology can't express those things. Now, don't misunderstand what I am saying. Technology is not a bad thing. When used properly it has many great qualities and benefits.

But Christ made us, humans, in flesh, to bring His love and comfort to those in need. He created us to go out and do and be and love. He created us to be present, available, and in person.

It's so much easier to hide behind a computer or phone, but to actually go out and be visible in the midst of messy, that's hard, uncomfortable and scary, but we should never let that paralyze us from doing what we were put here to do.

Jesus says in 2 Timothy 1:7-"For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline." 

This is just one of His promises He gives to encourage us and give us confidence as we step out to be His hands and feet.

Jesus help us to step out from behind our phones and computers and fellowship with others the way You did, in person. Fill us with the confidence we need to enter the messiest places, the broken places, the unknown places, even the most joyous places. Amen

Please Slow Down

It seems as though I blinked for just a second and when my eyes opened my babies were grown. 

Today I watched my sweet boy walk up on the stage as a second grader for the very last time to receive his award for being on the A honor roll all year. 

He has grown so much within this last year and my heart begs for time to slow down. 

I can't believe he will be a third grader and this sweet little guy

will be in Kindergarten. Be still time, slow down, you are moving quicker than this mommy's heart can handle.

Jesus prepare my heart for each new season that comes with growing boys. Amen

Its's His Birthday!!

"Then the Lord God made a woman from the rib he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man."
Genesis 2:22

I am beyond blessed to be from this mans rib. He is our greatest joy, our provider, protector, and he brings so much joy to our home. 

Happy Birthday my sweet love. I am so greateful to have spent the last 11 birthdays with you and pray for many more. 

You are my first and greatest love and I am honored to be yours. 

The Answer to All Things

Are you searching for something to feel your emptiness?
      -God's Word will fill it.

Are you constantly feasting on food or an addiction in hopes it will satisfy you?
     -God's truth and promises will satisfy those cravings-feast on His Word

Are you tired and worn out and in desperate need for some rest?
     -Let God's draw you in under His wing and give you rest.

Is your plate so full you can't hold another thing on it?

     -Seek God's counsel and allow Him to remove the excess. 

God is the solution to all things and the answer to all questions. 

Altar Sunday

Sometimes life becomes so busy, you just need a moment of rest, quietness, and order. If that's you, I have just the place for you.

It's at the feet of Jesus! 

When the Fire Erupts

"The godly think before speaking; the wicked spout evil words." Proverbs 15:28

No matter how frustrating a situation is, we must never let our feelings control our tongue, because when it gains control, fire erupts! And when the fire erupts people get hurt. 

The burns we receive or give, leave a lasting impression. Those burns become constant reminders. 

I have been on both ends. I have been the one to allow the fire to erupt from my mouth and burn others, and I have also been burned as well. 

Neither are enjoyable. Yes venting at the moment seemed like a relief, until you step back and realize the effect it had. 

I have also seen the devastating burns placed upon others, that leaves me broken for them. Their scars might not be visible to the eye at times, but once they are revealed it's devastating. 

Do you know where the fire happens the most?

In our homes and with our families. 

Satan loves to fuel the fire and you can see families and homes where the fire broke out. 

The result from the fire;

Broken families trying to find the EXIT

Divorced homes, which reveals two parents who found the EXIT but left their children in the fire.

Parents and Siblings who set off fires at any given moment because of jealousy, selfishness, pride, and a lack of self control. Most of the time you see where the fire starts, gets repaired, starts again in a new part of the home, and it goes on and on. This is the worst of fires, because in the end all though the fires started then stopped, the burns eventually take over the entire area, it leaves your heart on a ventilator.

Hear is the thing, once you place burns upon someone, you can't take those burns back. Only Jesus can heal those burns and heal you from constantly erupting flames onto others. 

But you have to be willing to let Him. 

For me the burns I have received have come from those I love the most, and they hurt, and not only do they hurt, but once they finally begin to heal, something happens and you get burned again. And remember, if you are spewing fire to someone about someone else, not only does your fire burn the one you are gossiping too, but the fire will also find it's way to the person you talking about. 

After receiving so many burns, there have been times I have fueled fire with fire and spewed them right back, but I KNOW BETTER! All of us in Christ know better. 

Let's be mindful today and allow the Holy Spirit to be control rather than our feelings. Don't let your feelings control you, you need to control your feelings. 

Let's ask Jesus to forgive us for the burns we have spewed on others and to help us see His love through the healing of our own burns. 

 

Dare to Do More, Reach More, and Pursue More

Jesus called us to be pursuers of His Word and the lost. 

We should never be okay with complacency, or sitting back and waiting for others to come to us. Jesus wants more from us. 

We must always be available and ready to be used by God. 

We must be active in our faith and in our quest to reach the lost, those growing in faith, the complacent, and even those within our Churches. 

Let's actively pursue others for Christ. 

Let's always desire to be working where Christ is working. 

Let's stop assuming medocrity is good enough. 

Let's open the door for others to be more involved in the Body of Christ. 

Jesus has not stopped pursuing you! 

Complacency is one of the quickest things to destroy and hinder a ministry, Church, and even our personal walk with God. 

Our efforts to reach and share God's Word should never come to a stop because others have grown content in mediocrity. 

Let's be mindful of our purpose and mission here on earth. 

As followers who have counted the cost, we should be fully aware that reaching others requires us pursuing them just as Christ has, is and will always be pursuing us. 

Through Christ we can always do more, reach more, serve more, help more, encourage more, love more, and grow more.  

Let us not grow weary. Time is fleeting! 

Whatever position you are in glorify Him. Whatever oppurtunity you are given, seek to do more than the minimum. Seek to be more than the ordinary. Seek to be used. Seek to reach more. 

Have you stepped into a role or position and have grown complacent or content in medocrity? If so ask The Lord to refuel you, to ignite you, to fill you with a passion and hunger to step out and do more for Him. 

Let's be brave and confident and willing to go farther in order to reach more for Christ. 

Let's be followers of Christ who desire to grow in the Body of Christ so much so that the edges of the earth become the four walls of the Church. 

Maybe It's His Way of...

"Patient endurance is what you need now, so you will continue to do God's will. Then you will receive all that he has promised." Hebrews 10:36

Sometimes when things get hard we seek to find the easiest way out,  whether by just walking away, leaving, ignoring the issue or just simply quitting. 

But it's in those times God wants to teach us, grow us, use us, and develop a strength in us we will need later. 

It's in these hard times, we have to keep our eyes on Christ and trust in His plan for our lives. We must listen to His voice of truth, hold on to His promises, look to Him for comfort and companionship and learn to rejoice even in our hardships. 

God has big plans for us. God has had a plan for each of us before we were even born. 

Sometimes our feeling of loneliness and struggle is God drawing us into Himself. He is simply removing some things and or people from our lives for a little while in order to get alone with us. His intentions are always sweet and always perfect, even if we can't see it at the time. 

His reaching out to us is His way of letting us know He desires us, wants us and loves us. 

As He reaches out, we should be grabbing on. Don't let this time of learning, growing and transforming slip away. 

"Dear brothers and sisters, whenever trouble comes your way, let it be an oppurtunity for joy. For when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be strong in character and ready for anything." James 1:2-3

Just This

Jesus You have given me the greatest honor and role here on earth-mommy.

Thank You for the overwhelming amount of joy these babies bring to my life. 

I pray I live in such a way they see You at all times. I pray Your reflection in me leaves them desiring more of You.

May my words and my actions towards Garrett be ones that teach them to desire a woman who is submissive, respectful, kind, loving, encouraging and most of all God fearing. 

May I never take this role for granted. It is a gift from You that can be taken at any time. 

May I never waste time being selfish but selfless so they can learn to live a life just as You did. 

Jesus You gave me the greatest example to follow, my mama and I pray I become half the woman she is today. 

Thank You for the godly example she set for me. She not only taught it but she lives it. 

Jesus continue to teach me Your ways so I can teach them. Amen

Who Do You Choose?

Look around at those who you surround yourself with. Do they force you to be better for God or the world?

Do they challenge you to go deeper in your faith daily? 

Do they encourage you to fulfill the purpose God gave you?

Do they influence you according to His truths?

Do they commit to holding you accountable in your walk with Christ?

Do they live a life pleasing to The Lord or the world?

Do they live day in and day out God's Word?

Do their actions encourage you to align yours with His Word?

Do you pray together?

Do you serve together?

Who exactly do you choose, those who straddle both God and the world or those who choose to walk righteously? 

Which One Are You?

It's always interesting when I step back and evaluate my absolute joy and excitement for Jesus here on earth all to realize it doesn't even come close to what it will be like in heaven. 

I imagine I will be that crazy woman throwing myself all over the King of Kings, all while crying that hysterical woman cry as I literally place my entire being in his arms. 

What truly astonishes me is the mere fact that a lot of others will be doing the same thing and not one of us will have to compete or wait for His attention. 

With that thought it brings me to this astonishing realization that many of us forget. 

We don't have to compete or try to impress Christ. His love and affection is available to each of us at all times. 

Our minds have been warped with the lie that we have to earn His love, even salvation through our works. Therefore we actually live a life trying to EARN His love, His attention and salvation. So much so we even compete with one another, rather than uniting as one.

If it is about works alone than why did Jesus even need to come?

The most important thing and the one that will last forever is our relationship with Christ. 

If we focus on our own relationship with Him we will actually be investing our time in the one that matters the most and we will spend less time competeing or trying to earn His love and attention through works alone. 

Which one are you? Are you trying to earn your way or do you have a real, personal, and intimate relationship with Him? 

Altar Sunday

Jesus You deserve our absolute best. You gave up heaven and came to earth for us. You walked on this earth knowing You would have to die. You came anyway. I can't shake these thoughts from my mind. Your selflessness, Your mercy, Your willingness, Your love, all for us. All so we could everlasting life. 

You are more than amazing. Your love is overwhelming, captivating, marvelous. As we approach the Most Holy Place where You dwell, may we be prepared, willing, excited, and anxious to lay our lives at Your feet, giving You every part of us. 

Pride Accomplishes Nothing!

"Pride leads to arguments; those who take advice are wise." Proverbs 13:10

Jesus forgive me for being prideful at times. Keep me humble so I may be more of a peacemaker and reflection of You. Remind me of humility, especially in moments when pride creeps up and tries to be seen and heard. Pride accomplishes nothing! 

Teach me the difference between godly confidence and pride, they are often times confused. Jesus I am nothing without You. I can accomplish nothing on my own. I am in desperate need of You at all times. On my own I am foolish. 

Turn me into a listener, peacemaker and a woman of humility. I know humility leads to peace, growth and wisdom, all of which define and reflect who You are. Amen

He Never Takes Them Off of You

This truth is one of the most powerful, comforting, convicting, overwhelming, eye opening truth's there is.

Jesus NEVER takes His eyes off of you!!

Out of 7 billion people, Jesus always has His eyes on you. There is not a millisecond that goes by that He is not watching you.

He is so in love with you, He can't take His eyes off of you.

Find joy in that promise.

"I can never escape from your spirit! I can never get away from your presence!" Psalm 139:7

A New Phase

When God calls you to step out from behind the computer, you do it. You go and share, serve, meet face to face, disciple, encourage, and be available for His use. 

This is where I am today. This is the newest and most active phase of my life and ministry. 

Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love and adore each of you precious readers. I also love and adore the precious faces I get to see in flesh. 

This is probably one of the best periods of fulfilling my purpose thus far, along with teaching. 

I am humbled and honored to be found somewhat worthy enough to be used by our Amazing King of Kings. 

He has opened the door for teaching not only in the Church, but outside the Church and even at some Women gatherings. 

For me, God reveled His purpose for me awhile back, but it has taken up to now for Him to be ready to send me out and use me in ways only He can. These oppurtunities thrill me to no end. 

I am a teacher not a speaker and when He taught me the difference and I understood it, my life changed radically. I learned the true meaning of Luke 9:23 and Titus 2 and how those passage look lived out. As a follower of Christ, who is carrying my cross daily, I am literally dragging it while on my knees. I am not worthy enough to carry it upright. Jesus is far to holy and amazing! 

I say all of this to reveal His amazing Grace. His Faithfulness. His purpose and to point others towards Him. 

I pray daily that He makes me invisible and Himself visible. I never want to be seen or heard. I always want Jesus to be seen and heard. 

I tell my ladies often, I have absolutely NOTHING to offer or give you, but Jesus does. 

I never want anyone to see more of me than I really am, and that is a sinner saved by grace and cleansed by His blood. 

So, if you find me absent at times, it's because Christ has called me to go and do and be and serve and teach. 

I truly am a humbled little speck on the face of this earth who is humbled beyond humbled to be used by Jesus. 

You are loved, prayed for and thought of, always!!

"Similarly, teach the older women to live in a way that honors God. They must not slander others or be heavy drinkers. Instead, they should teach others what is good. These older women must train the younger women to love their husbands and their children, to live wisely and be pure, to work in their homes, to do good, and to be submissive to their husbands. Then they will not bring shame on the word of God." Titus 2:3-5

Boundaries

Don't look at God's boundaries as restrictions. Look at them as your protection. The more you stay within them, the better off you will be. The more you obey Him, the less chaotic your life will be. 

His boundaries are for our good! Rejoice in them. 

"Godliness helps people all through life, while the evil are destroyed by their wickedness." Proverbs 13:6

He'll Blow Your Mind

take place within your home, your heart can't help but to overflow with joy. To hear and see these precious women study God's Word overwhelms me in the greatest way.

God is doing great big things through this Bible Study. 

It's amazing when we allow Him to have complete control and surrender to His calling, how He blows our minds with things as wonderful as this.

Altar Sunday

Approach the altar today for someone who is suffering, hurting, lost, or broken. 

If we all do it for one person, imagine what a difference it could make. 

The First Encounter

Jesus could Your presence be so known, so present, that when anyone crosses the threshold they encounter You first?

Learned Behaviors

Is it true many behaviors are learned? I don't know the exact answer to that question, but in my study of the book of Proverbs, I am learning many are. 

Selfishness is a learned behavior. The more we practice selfishness the more selfish we become. 

Gossip is a learned behavior. The more we partake in it, the more we do it. 

A negative attitude is a learned behavior. The more we hear it, think it and speak it, the more negative we become.

Foolishness is a learned behavior. The more foolish we act the more foolish we become.

Jealousy is a learned behavior. The more we compare ourselves to others, the more jealous we become.

Love is a learned behavior. The more we look to Christ and live like Christ, the more we will live out love.

Living in joy is a learned behavior. The more we understand the gift Christ gave us-everlasting life-the more joyful we become.

Obedience is a learned behavior. The more we study God's Word, practice it, obey it, and live it out, the more obedient we become.

Forgiveness is a learned behavior. The more we understand it, become aware of its importance, and grasp how much we have received it, the more forgiving we will be.

A postive attitude is a learned behavior. The more we focus on His promises and truths, the more postive our thoughts and speech will become.

Many of these might be taught, but most are learned through repetitive practice. 

Practice makes perfect, isn't that the saying? 

Think about it!

Only You

Only You oh God are Soverign. You alone are our healer. You restore, revive, renew, protect, comfort, provide, love and guide us.

You understand us better than we do ourselves. You know our fears, our doubts, our weaknesses, our hopes, and our dreams.

You know our future, you live with us in our present, and when confessed, you forget our past. 

Only You God. 

He Came Anyway

He knew what it would all entail before He came. He came anyway.

He knew many would reject Him, but He came anyway.

He knew it would be painful, but He came anyway.

He knew the weight He would bear, but He came and did it anyway.

He knew He would die, but He came anyway.

And then, on the third day, He did something He knew would change our lives forever. He over came death and rose. 

He did it for you and me.

Just Jesus

No man can display such beauty. No man can make Himself known like Christ does. No man can create something as marvelous as the sunrise and sunset. No man can count every star. No man can tell you the number of hair on your head. No man can tell the wind to blow or in which direction to blow. No man can save you from your sins. No man can wash you white as snow. 

Just Jesus!

Are You a Godly One or a Wicked One?

What type of friend are you, a godly friend or a wicked friend?

Most of us would never admit to being a wicked friend, but we must be careful. If we have encouraged gossip, lying, jealousy, bitterness, dishonesty, choosing sides, even wordly living, we might not be as godly of a friend as we think.

Let Jesus reveal to you what type of friend you really are.

"The godly give good advice to their friends, the wicked lead them astray." Proverbs 12:26

Warning!

"You should also know this, Timothy, that in the last days there will be very difficult times. For people will love only themselves and their money. They will be boastful and proud, scoffing at God, disobedient to their parents, and ungrateful. They will consider nothing sacred. They will be unloving and unforgiving; they will slander others and have no self-control; they will be cruel and have no interest in what is good. They will betray friends, be reckless, be puffed up with pride, and love pleasure rather than God. They will act as if they are religious, but they will reject the power that could make them godly. You must stay away from people like that." 2 Timothy 3:1-5

There is a reason Paul warned Timothy of the last days, and there is a reason this passage still applies to us today. We need to be warned, aware, and conscious.

These things can take root within us, our families, our homes and our Churches. For some, this may already be the case. So how do we rid our homes, our lives, our families from these things?

Three ways

1. Understand none of us are immune.
2. Go Straight to the Root.
3. Combat it with the Word of God and the power of the Holy Spirit.

If we think we are immune to the attacks of Satan, we have another thing coming. He is constantly planning and scheming, he waits until we are weak, and then he attacks. We are susceptible.

We need to learn, evaluate and get familiar with the root of what causes these actions-selfishness.
When we focus on ourselves, the desires of our flesh, and feelings we literally remove Christ from the center and place ourselves in the place He should be. This will always produce problems, stress, frustration, and more selfishness. In order to put Christ back in the center you must daily put aside your selfish ambition, shoulder your Cross daily and follow Him. You literally have to wake up and run to the foot of the Cross and lay your selfishness down.

Then, you have to put on the armor of Christ and be completely on guard at all times. You need to tune your ears to His voice and listen. None of these things are easy, but if we choose to do them day in and day out, we will be able to look back and see how He has guided us, protected us, and helped us grow in perseverance, self-control and faith.

The greatest asset we have is His Word. We need to be storing it within us every second, constantly meditating on His promises, seeking it out like we would lost treasure or hidden money. The more we store His Word, the stronger the Holy Spirit is within us, and the less likely we are to give into our selfishness.

Jesus, uproot the selfishness within us and replace it with Your truths, Your promises, and selflessness. Take complete control of our lives in every area. Guard us from our own selfishness. Jesus bring healing to those who are living in the bondage of selfishness. Bring freedom and healing to the families who have allowed sin and selfishness to divide them. Amen

The Beauty in the Scars

It's easy to live in a way that hides the truth of who we really are. But to live in a way that shows the truth of who we really are, is hard in a world where there is constant judgement.

Those who are able to say, "I am sinner" and allow their sinfulness to be exposed, are the ones who speak and live the most powerful testimony.

They have realized their need for Jesus-their Saviour. It is through that realization they are able to stand firm. They understand the meaning of mercy.

They no longer live chained to their past, or in the fear of judgement. They live in the freedom of His forgiveness and grace.

Their scars become beautiful stories of redemption. 

They are able to fully grasp the purpose and meaning of Christ's death, burial and resurrection. 

They have been set free. 

"Oh, what a miserable person I am! Who will free me from this life that is dominated by sin? Thank God! The answer is in Jesus Christ our Lord." Romans 7:24-25

As You Age...

Beauty is found in the woman who ages in wisdom, truth and love.

Beauty is found in the woman who grows in self-control.

Beauty is found in the woman who holds her tongue.

Beauty is found in the woman who displays a life of selflessness.

Beauty is found in the woman who matures in her faith.

Beauty is found in the woman who speaks with honesty.

Beauty is found in the woman who plants peace.

Beauty is found in the woman with a gentle and quiet spirit.

As you age, do you age in beauty?

"You should be known for the beauty that comes from within, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is so precious to God. That is the way the holy women of old made themselves beautiful. They trusted God and accepted the authority of their husbands." 1 Peter 3:4-5

At some point, if we want to experience freedom, we have to be willing to lay our selfish desires at the foot of the Cross. 

The Right Kind of Approval

Seek the approval of God more than you seek the approval of your flesh.

Don't Make a Promise You Can't Keep

"The Lord hates those who don't keep their word, but he delights in those who do." Proverbs 12:22

Now days, your word means very little. Even a signed contract can be broken. In Bible times, someones word was solid. It held firm.

Our words have become futile, fickle, and ever changing. We make rash promises to God and to people.

Ecclesiastes 5:1-6-"As you enter the house of God, keep your eyes open ad your mouth shut! Don't be a fool who doesn't realize that mindless offerings to God are evil. And don't make rash promises to God, for he is in heaven, and you are only here on earth. So let your words be few. Just as being too busy gives you nightmares, being a fool makes you a blabbermouth. So when you make a promise to God, don't delay in following through, for God takes no pleasure in fools. Keep all the promises you make to him. It is better to say nothing than to promise something that you don't follow through on. In such cases, your mouth is making you sin. And don't defend yourself by telling the Temple messenger that the promise you made was a mistake. That would make God angry, and he might wipe out everything you have achieved."

So often we make promises to each other that we either never intend to keep or can't keep. If you give your word, be sure you commit to keeping it. If you know you can't, it's better to be honest and tell them, than to break it.

Jesus help us be mindful of how we approach You, and the vows and promises we make. May we never make rash promises that we never intend to keep. In times of suffering, sorrow, fear and frustration, may we remain silent and listen for Your voice. Amen

Only God

Who, other than God can display such beauty for the world to see?

Who, other than God can paint the sky with such detail?

Who, other than God can reveal His  presence in such a majestic way even the non-believer, believes?

There is no-other. Only God, the Creator. 

"Praise God in his heavenly dwelling; praise him in his mighty heaven! Praise him for his mighty works; praise his unequaled greatness!" Psalm 150:1-2

Acceptance

"It is better to trust the Lord than to put confidence in people." Psalm 118:8

The more we look to man for acceptance and happiness, the more disappointment we will experience. The more others put their acceptance and happiness in us, rather than Christ, the more disappointed they will be.

Let's look to Christ, He accepts us as we are, loves us unconditionally, will never disappoint us and fills us with an unexplainable amount of joy that no one can take from us.

If you are constantly feeling down, depressed, frustrated, and irritable, take a step back and examine why you are feeling that way. Is it because you are looking to man to meet the needs only Christ can? If so, turn to Jesus, dive head first into His Word and let Him lavish His love upon you.

It's a daily choice. Will you choose Christ's acceptance and joy or will you choose man, whom disappointments?

Beauty in Rest

When you can't bring yourself to wake your baby up, because there is beauty in his heart and mind at rest. It's a beauty magnified by Jesus at work within him, preparing him for the day ahead. 

Thank you for the rest You provide Jesus. 

It's Not Guaranteed

We all know the one thing that is inevitable-death. Yet how often we live as though we are immune. We live as though tomorrow is guaranteed.

But tomorrow is not guaranteed, nor is making it through today. That is why making the most of each second, minute, hour, is crucial. Being conscious and aware that our life is like a vapor, here today and gone tomorrow, will awaken us to savor each minute God allows us to have. It will shift our focus off of ourselves and onto the things and people that matter the most. Our families, the lost, the widowed, the orphaned, the poor, the least of His.

It will revive us, challenge us, and fill us with thankfulness and joy. Why? Because when we realize at any second it could be over, we become mindful of our blessings. When we realize at any second we could lose someone we love, we become mindful and thankful for them.

Today, spend your minutes being thankful, prayerful and joyful. Ask the Lord to help you be mindful of how you spend your time today.

May we spend more time impacting others for the sake of Christ than we do on serving our flesh.

"How do you know what your life will be like tomorrow? Your life is like the morning fog-it's here a little while then it's gone." James 4:14

Altar Sunday

We are to only stay at the altar for a period of time. Then we are to get up and go out and "do" act, live out, serve. 

The Difference

"Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it." Luke 18:16-17

Do you know the difference in a child and   an adult?

The child desires to learn. The child loves unconditionally. The child is pure at heart. The child is able to be shaped and molded. The child easily forgives. The child holds no record of being wronged. The child seeks to understand. The child easily believes. 

There is a reason Jesus says to have child-like faith. 

As adults, let's seek to obtain that child-like faith we once had. Let's stop allowing self and the world to conform us to it's liking and start conforming the world and self to Christ's liking! 

A Good Indicator

"If you are wise and understand God’s ways, prove it by living an honorable life, doing good works with the humility that comes from wisdom. But if you are bitterly jealous and there is selfish ambition in your heart, don’t cover up the truth with boasting and lying. For jealousy and selfishness are not God’s kind of wisdom. Such things are earthly, unspiritual, and demonic. For wherever there is jealousy and selfish ambition, there you will find disorder and evil of every kind." James 3:13-16

Disorder-to disturb the regular or normal functions of.

When we allow selfishness to take root within us and we constantly feed it, we produce words and actions that are worldly, and we ensure they always point to us.

Because we have allowed our hearts to be saturated with self, when the attention is taken off of us, or we  feel as though we aren't in control, disorder begins.

I like to refer to self as our Miss Me. Miss Me can't go two seconds without being fed. She thrives on any and everything that feeds her. Such as; attention whether earned from good or bad behavior. Lies that make her look better or help her be praised. And anything that is materialistic. Her speech contains the word  "I" and the focus in every conversation revolves around her or her family. Her concern for others is rare. 

When her regular routine is thrown off, beware. She will either shut you off or let you know about it.

We all have a Miss Me, but we all also have a choice. We can either choose to give her complete rein of our lives, or we can allow the Holy Spirit to put her in her place. 

If you wonder how much control she really has, ask the Lord to show you. and when He does, listen! 

And if you are willing and really do desire to know the truth, that if listened to, will  set you free, seek out those who know you well and will answer you honestly. 

But be prepared for their answer, because when truth is spoken to Miss Me and she is called out for her actions and speech, she can get really defensive. 

So be sure when you ask the Lord and those you love to tell you, that you are really ready to receive it. 

And if you do ask, and you get mad at them for telling you, or you let it hurt your feelings, then let that be a good indicator of how big your Miss Me really is. 

Let James 3:13-16 be one of the tools you use to put Miss Me in her place. Remind her constantly who God is. 

Unity in Love

There is no greater joy than hearing my three boys fuss over who loves mama more. 

As I sat back and listened to them my heart literally felt full, thankfulness overflowed. 

It was a healthy discussion, one that said together our love for mama is more than she can contain. It's stronger! 

May our love for Jesus be the same. May there not be a competition based off works, that fights to love God more than another, rather, may there be a unity that overwhelms and fills His heart because the love we have for Him as one is so strong.

It's Time to Put It Down

When will you remove the magnifying glass Satan puts in front of you, and hold up the Word of God?

God's Word reflects beauty and love. 

Start April off with a new look, new vision and new perspective of who you are in Christ.

These are just a few of the most precious God loving faces you will see. 

My heart overflowed with complete joy at our first Bible Study. God was ever so present teaching us His amazing truths. 

Ladies I pray God will give you a complete understanding of what He wants to do in your lives. I pray He makes you wise with spiritual wisdom as we study His Word. For then the way we live will always honor and please Him and we will continually do good, kind things for others. All while we learn to know God better and better.

It is a complete joy to serve Jesus with you. You bless me with your love for Him.
